Understanding Intergenerational Racial Trauma

November 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Join us on Saturday, November 4th at 11:00 AM for a virtual interactive webinar with guest speaker, Dr Cheryl Grills. Please register using the Eventbrite link below.

Discrimination is a traumatic experience that can cause similar symptoms to PTSD as well as depression and anxiety.

Exposure to discrimination, either directly or indirectly, can trigger racial trauma. Indirectly can include witnessing discrimination against a member of a particular group. Chronic exposure to discrimination can be humiliating, frightening, and isolating.

When others deny that this trauma exists or blame the victim, it may intensify the trauma.

In this interactive webinar, you will learn the signs and symptoms of racial trauma, how it relates to the destruction of the Section 14 community, the erasure of the history of the minority families that lived on Section 14 and the ongoing denial of reparative justice to survivors and descendants.
